Leone Èfrati was a champion of Italian boxing. A featherweight of great heart and temperament. In 1938 he came close to a world title in the United States, while at home he was erased from the fascist sporting yearbooks and newspapers. Removed because he was Jewish. Staying in America would be the safest option, but after the promulgation of the racial laws he decided to return to Rome to be near his wife Ester and family. And it is in Italy that he is betrayed and handed over to the Nazis. They deported him to Auschwitz and then to Ebensee/Mauthausen, where a squad of kapos and SS men beat him to a pulp for defending his brother.
In 1947, it was a child who first brought justice to him. Ten-year-old Romoletto, Leone’s son.
