The Book:

An elephant in the savannah won’t stop grumbling, grumbling, grumbling. The animals of the savannah get together to find a solution to all this grumbling. A solution that will be efficient enough, yes… A funny story with a repetitive structure which stimulates reading.

A magical author/illustrator duo, one with an original and impertinent pen, the other with collages to highlight this impertinence. Escoffier is a unique author who has been translated into several languages and whose picture books have been very successful. The smashing picture book of the year!

The Author:

Michaël Escoffier was born in France, in 1970. Author of around fifty picture books for youth, he discovered the world of publishing later in life. It is the meeting, in 2006, with illustrator Kris Di Giacomo which opened publishers doors for him. Together, they created their first picture books: Neither Seen, Neither Known, Me First!, The Day I Lost My Super Powers, Without the A… Other collaborations followed with various illustrators. Today he lives in Lyon with his wife and their two children.

The Illustrator:

Manon Gauthier is an illustrator and self-taught painter, born in Montreal. She studied graphic arts and in 2006, after the joy of having illustrated a first picture book, she devoted herself entirely to youth literature. Since then, she has illustrated numerous books for Canadian and European publishers. She has received numerous awards and distinctions for her work, including five nominations for the Governor General Award. The book My Park, published by Isatis, was selected for exposition at the Bologna International Book Fair in 2014, and she has recently received the Youth Award of Montreal libraries. She meets regularly with children in the context of art workshops in numerous schools.
