Antonio works on the black market and would sell his best friend for a loaf of bread. Andrea, on the other hand, would give his life for his best friend, even if it is a dog: Guerrino, in fact, is the only memory he has left of his grandfather. Their paths cross on the night of 12 August 1943, when the sound of the alarm siren announces an air raid. Thus, despite their differences, the two boys find themselves allied to escape the bombs that fall on the city like bunches of black candies.

“I’ll take you to the Monumentale. But I want something in return. I’m not risking my skin for nothing, dammit” “Let me guess” Andrea replied “you’re willing to risk it for my watch” “Exactly” A long sigh was heard. “It was my grandfather’s, but it’s a fair trade. I’m in” In the darkness, the two boys shook hands. The pact was sealed.
